When news outlets started covering the frequent disappearances of high-profile figures in China as if they were mysteries, I got frustrated once again by our orientalist view. I sought out an expert on how the government had deliberately changed the law to legalize these kinds of disapperances, and a smart producer helped me get it animated.

Senior produced this quirky explainer, which was shortlisted for an ADC Award, on why the voices on devices that tell us what to do and where to go have historically been feminine—and why that’s terrible for women. Shout out to an undergrad Linguistic Anthropology class, which gave me the idea to book the brilliant Deborah Tannen.

I seniored this series, a video take on the Harper’s Index, at a time when changing supply chains and consumer habits made the economy difficult to picture. Did the research and writing on this, and even got 25 pounds of peanuts shipped to our animator—an emotional challenge for someone who is deathly allergic.
